Many media outlets, as well as social networks, call this act a loud word " liberation ", and Belarusian propaganda resources present the situation either as the dictator's mercy or as a successful deal with Trump.

The fact that people were taken out of the dungeons of a dictatorship, where conditions were absolutely inhumane, is certainly good news . But the appearance of many former political prisoners speaks for itself: people who lived through Auschwitz.

However, the whole process looks different if you think about the fact that people were thrown out of their own country with a bag over their heads, after torture and inhuman treatment. And here intuition does not fail: what the regime is doing does not fit the definitions of "nobility", "humanism", "mercy". After all, the "liberation" was accompanied by forced eviction of people. Forced evictions are a gross violation of a number of human rights recognized at the international level, including:

• housing rights
• food rights
• rights to safe drinking water
• rights to health care
• rights to education
• labor rights
• rights to personal inviolability
• the right to freedom from cruel and inhuman treatment
• rights to freedom of movement

The obligation of states to refrain from forced evictions and to protect people from them is enshrined in international legal documents - the Universal Declaration of Human Rights , the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (clause 1 of Article 11), the Convention on the Rights of the Child (clause 3 of Article 27), the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (Article 14), and the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (Article 5).

On the contrary, Lukashenko's dictatorial regime first subjected people to years of torture, deprivation and abuse, and then threw them out of the country, leaving many without documents, dividing families, leaving property and homes inside the country. In this way, the regime literally excludes citizens of Belarus as " undesirables ." None of the officials and security forces thought about where these people would live, what to eat and drink, how to contact their loved ones.

Today, we can proudly observe how numerous humanitarian and human rights organizations have actively joined in helping people thrown out of the country, providing them with housing, things and basic necessities.

The challenge for all of us will be visa and legal support, as well as long-term support for these people. However, the responsibility for everything that is happening lies with the Lukashenko regime - its criminal and inhumane actions have made people not only political prisoners, but also victims of forced eviction.
