Dmitry was detained on September 21, 2022 by GUBOPiK officers. The teacher was forced to read his own poems on camera and make excuses - he allegedly went to protests in August 2020, wrote messages on Facebook and VKontakte. Screenshots from his social networks criticizing the actions of the authorities also appeared on pro-government channels.

According to human rights activists, he will be released in the summer of 2024, having fully served the sentence imposed by the court.
