Legal adviser of TUT.BY. Ekaterina graduated from the law faculty of BSU. Before TUT.BY, she worked in a large advertising campaign.
She was detained on May 18 as part of a criminal case initiated against TUT.BY for tax evasion on an especially large scale (Part 2 of Article 243 of the Criminal Code). A few days later, she was placed under house arrest.
In April 2022, it became known that Ekaterina's preventive measure had been changed from house arrest to a written undertaking not to leave the country.
On January 9, 2023, the Minsk City Court will begin hearing the case against the largest Belarusian independent portal TUT.BY. The trial was made closed from the very beginning. The case is being heard by Judge Valentina Zenkevich.
Elena Tolkacheva, Olga Loiko and Ekaterina Tkachenko did not appear at the trial because they had gone abroad. According to pro-government Telegram channels, the criminal case against them has been separated into a separate trial. They have been declared wanted.
How to write a letter

✍️️ Remember that every letter is censored. This means that your letters are read by strangers whose main goal is to limit inmates' access to information or to use it against the prisoners or even you.
So try to avoid:
👉️️ harsh statements regarding ongoing political matters
👉 statements against the authorities and public servants
👉 foul language
👉 discussion of the circumstances of the criminal case
