Sergei was found guilty in August 2021 in a criminal case opened under the articles "violence or threat of violence against a law enforcement officer" and "insulting a judge" for comments left on the Telegram channel "Punishermen of Belarus" regarding GUBOPiK officer Alexander Aleksa and Leninsky District Judge Marina Klimchuk.
In September 2024, a court hearing was held in absentia as part of a special proceeding to replace the restriction of freedom with referral to an open-type correctional facility.
