An accomplice in crimes against the rights and freedoms of the citizens of Belarus. Volha Uladzimirauna Bahukouskaya is an officer of the security agencies involved in politically motivated repression, during which thousands of peaceful demonstrators and several hundred journalists, human rights defenders and activists were detained and subjected to violence. On 2 February 2021, Volha Bahukouskaya acted as public prosecutor in the case of Ihar Mitsiankou, who was convicted of insulting traffic police officer Alexander Kirkalov in a comment in the “People’s Patrol” group on VKontakte. Bahukouskaya requested 2 years of restricted freedom in an open-type correctional facility for the man and 1,000 roubles in compensation for moral damage. Judge Kostiuk granted the requests in part: she sentenced Mitsiankou to two years of restricted freedom without placement in an open-type correctional facility and ordered him to pay Kirkalov 1,000 roubles.
