Olga Vladimirovna Babuk is involved in politically motivated repressions in the Republic of Belarus. Babuk is responsible for the fact that, as a judge of the Pukhovichi District Court, he issues politically motivated sentences against representatives of civil society. In judicial practice, Olga Vladimirovna Babuk considers not only administrative cases, but also criminal ones. As a result of her decisions, Belarusians who opposed the current regime in the country were sentenced to various terms of imprisonment. In particular, on November 2, 2022, Babuk sentenced political prisoner, neurologist Alexander Telego, to four years in a general regime colony for comments on the Internet. On April 11, 2022, the judge sentenced rehabilitation consultant Ruslan Lazovikov to one and a half years of restriction of freedom for “Public insult of the President of the Republic of Belarus.” Thus, Olga Babuk’s actions contribute to human rights violations, strengthening the power of Alexander Lukashenko and increasing politically motivated repression in the Republic of Belarus.
