Sergei was arrested on October 13, 2021, in connection with a criminal case opened for publications and comments about Lukashenko and the head of the Glubokoye District Department of Internal Affairs, Police Lieutenant Colonel Valery Kruklinsky.
In January 2022, he was found guilty of "defamation of Lukashenko," "insulting Lukashenko," "insulting a government official," and "defamation," and sentenced to imprisonment in a penal colony. The court also ordered him to pay compensation for moral damages to Kruklinsky.
He was released in August 2024, having fully served his sentence.
