An employee of the Baranovichi news outlet BAR24, created by the team of the former independent regional publication Intex-Press. The criminal cases against the journalists resulted from the mass detention of employees and journalists from the liquidated private publication Intex-Press in December 2024.
During a search of the publication's office, computer systems, a camera, laptops, including employees' personal laptops, as well as computer equipment from the accounting and advertising departments, were seized. The following day, the publication's correspondent, who had previously been summoned to the police for questioning, was detained.
On May 4, 2023, Belarusian authorities restricted access to the popular Baranovichi online publication. This was done by order of Brest Region Prosecutor Viktor Klimov, and the basis for this decision was allegedly the media outlet's multiple violations of the Law "On Mass Media." As the information service of the Brest Region Prosecutor's Office stated at the time, "the portal repeatedly published information that clearly negatively characterized the socio-political situation in the country after the election campaign and discredited the activities of state and law enforcement agencies."

👉 discussion of the circumstances of the criminal case
