Evgeny, a Russian citizen, was arrested and convicted on charges of "desecration of state symbols" for removing the flag of the Republic of Belarus, along with its flagpole, from the wall of the Ostrovets District Executive Committee's Labor and Social Protection Department, and taking it home.
He was released in December 2021, having fully served his sentence.
