Head of the Gomel Regional Search Association "Memory of the Fatherland." The organization was dedicated to preserving the historical memory of Belarus, specifically searching for the remains of victims of the Great Patriotic War and Stalin's repressions. Over the course of its existence, its members identified several hundred victims of the Great Patriotic War and civilians.
In March 2023, the association was liquidated, and Igor was detained. He was then sentenced to 10 days in jail for "distributing extremist materials" (Part 2, Article 19.11 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). The prosecutor's office stated that he "promoted anti-state views among members of the association and other individuals." The association's activities allegedly "caused significant harm to state and public interests." This is why the regional executive committee's Main Justice Department filed a lawsuit seeking its liquidation.
In 2025, Igor was arrested along with his wife on new charges.
How to write a letter

✏️ It is important to share news. Mention the most notable and interesting occurrences depending on your pen-pal's interests.
✍️️ Remember that every letter is censored. This means that your letters are read by strangers whose main goal is to limit inmates' access to information or to use it against the prisoners or even you.
So try to avoid:
👉️️ harsh statements regarding ongoing political matters
👉 statements against the authorities and public servants
👉 foul language
👉 discussion of the circumstances of the criminal case
