Valery Henadzevich Sliapukhin

A Gomel-based community activist who worked to protect green spaces and urban areas from densification helped residents defend their rights. Among his campaigns were the defense of the park near the Tourist Hotel and the green space near the Dynamo Stadium, as well as the fight against densification on Timofeyenko and Fadeyeva Streets.

After administrative arrests and a fine in 2020, Slepukhin left Belarus. He lived in Kyiv, where he helped Belarusian refugees and participated in public initiatives, and later moved to Warsaw.

In May 2024, the activist learned he had been added to the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs' wanted list. He also reported that a local police officer and a KGB officer had visited his mother and asked where he was. He later learned that a politically motivated criminal case had been opened against him.
