Yuri Dobrokhotov was arrested on April 20, 2023, on suspicion of “petty hooliganism,” but was charged for participating in a protest in 2020. After a search of his residence, a jar containing a small amount of marijuana was allegedly found in the apartment.
During the trial, Dobrokhotov pleaded not guilty to two charges. He explained that in September 2020, after work, he saw a lot of people heading towards Pobediteley Avenue. He didn’t know any of them. People were walking along the sidewalks. He went with them, entered the crowd, because he was interested in what was going on there. He didn’t have any prohibited symbols with him. And regarding the circumstances of the charge of possession of narcotic substances, he reported that a certain A. had been staying in his apartment for 4 months. When he left, he temporarily left some things in his apartment, among which a jar of “weed” was later found.
During his arrest, Yuri was beaten by police officers.
For the totality of the crimes, the final sentence was imprisonment for a term of two years. On 20.10.2023, the appeal was considered.
