In 2020, Svetlana's husband and son were arrested and sentenced to four years in prison.
In 2024, Svetlana became a suspect in the INeedHelp case (providing food assistance to the families of political prisoners), and her apartment was searched. After that, she was repeatedly summoned for questioning. Security officials also continued to pressure her son and husband, who had been released by that time.
The family decided to leave the Republic of Belarus.
After her departure, Svetla became a defendant in a criminal case and was put on the wanted list.

At just 18 years old, the young man decided to go into business: in February 2021, he registered as a sole proprietor in his hometown to engage in online retail sales.
According to social media data, the young man moved to Russia some time later. In 2024, he actively posted job postings on VKontakte. Renat was looking for Belarusians and Russians to work shifts in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Smolensk, offering positions as loaders, packers, and general laborers.
The statute of limitations on his criminal case should have expired long ago. But according to the criminal code, the statute of limitations is suspended if a person is wanted. Ruslan was put on the wanted list. And eventually, he was detained —possibly in Russia—but the circumstances are unknown.
