Grodno journalist, member of the Union of Poles of Belarus, publicist. The journalist and activist of the Union of Poles in Belarus was accused of inciting hatred and calling for sanctions. Pochobut spent more than 1.5 years in a pre-trial detention center. In October he was added to the “terrorist list.” It is known that Poczobut was offered to write a petition for pardon, but he refused.

Denis lives in Grodno, married. He has been working as a volunteer editor of the Belarusian version of the website of the International Investigative Community InformNapalm since 2014, as well as a freelance correspondent for the newspaper “Novy Chas” since 2018. He is known for his investigations into the influence of the “Russian world” on Belarus and Syria, about the scandalous development in Kurapaty, as well as about the transition of former Ukrainian Berkut officers to the security forces of Belarus.
On March 12, 2021, journalist Denis Ivashin was detained by KGB officers for interfering with police activities. The security forces conducted a search in the journalist's apartment. Also that evening, a search was carried out at Denis’s mother’s house, and on March 15 they came to search his 95-year-old grandmother.
In mid-March 2022, human rights activists also learned that the KGB was accusing Ivashin of collaborating with Ukrainian intelligence. On August 15, the trial of the journalist began behind closed doors in the Grodno Regional Court.
The wife of a political prisoner said that they had repeatedly tried to compromise Denis by transferring him to a cell with people who had a low social status behind bars. However, relatives note, Denis quickly adapts to external conditions and studies internal rules and traditions. In April 2023, it became known that the relatives of the political prisoner were allegedly threatened to stop any communication with him if they did not stop disseminating information about Denis.
At the end of June 2023, the journalist was transferred to prison regime in Zhodino. The wife of the political prisoner, Olga, noted that neither the relatives nor the lawyer knew about the regime change trial. He is now in Zhodino prison No. 8, and for the first six months he will be kept under strict regime.
In April 2024, it became known from the political prisoner’s wife, Olga, that Denis had been deprived of his transfers . She also noted that now, in order to send vitamins to a prison or colony, it is necessary to obtain special permission from the doctor of the medical unit of the institution. Previously, this rule only applied to essential medications.
