Gennady actively reposted political publications that suggested he supported the "Russian world." In 2020, he actively reposted messages criticizing Lukashenko's regime. And when Russian troops launched a large-scale invasion of Ukraine, Korneevets switched to reposting Russian military propaganda, forgetting about Belarus. After the sentence comes into effect, it is only possible to write letters to a prisoner. Dmitry was convicted in September 2021 of "insulting a government official" for his reaction to police officers beating him. The incident occurred in November 2020, when police officers came to search his brother's home, and he filmed the incident.
The police officers who beat Dmitry felt insulted and filed a lawsuit claiming insult and demanding compensation for emotional distress. The court sentenced him to restricted freedom without committal to an open facility.
In March 2022, another court hearing was held under the same article, under which Dmitry was sentenced to imprisonment in a penal colony and a large fine to the state.
