He handed down punitive sentences in politically motivated cases. For example, Avrusevich found Alexander Shalyutin guilty under Art. 369 of the Criminal Code (insulting a government official), imposed a sentence of two years of restriction of freedom without being sent to a correctional facility. In addition, the judge decided to pay 1,500 rubles in moral compensation to the Gantsevichi policeman and confiscate the defendant’s laptop as a means of committing a crime for the state. Alexander simply left an offensive comment in June 2020 under a post with a photograph of Gantsevichi traffic police officer Igor Volnich, who was pressing the head of a protester lying on the ground with his knee. On August 27 of this year, Kossovo resident B. removed four flags from shops and institutions. He put three behind the post office building, and took one to the monument. Avrusevich sentenced him to two years of restriction of freedom with a referral to an open correctional facility under Article 370 of the Criminal Code for desecration of the state flag of the Republic of Belarus.
