Potential persecutions

According to the telegram channel “Vitebsk, I’m playing,” Sergei Zaitsev was charged with writing two comments about a government official, which the court considered offensive, in a telegram channel that was recognized as “extremist.” It is not reported who exactly was offended by the Vitebsk resident’s comments.

According to the prosecution, Zaitsev, while on the territory of the Russian Federation, posted a text containing a negative assessment of a government official on a Telegram channel that is recognized as “extremist.” The accused also left a similar insult to another government official in the Vitebsk region.

At the trial, Sergei admitted guilt, but noted that he did not know that the victims were government officials. It is reported that Zaitsev was previously convicted 11 times.

As a result, the Vitebsk District Court found him guilty on December 6, 2023 and sentenced him to two years and six months in prison with a fine of 50 basic units. By partial addition of the punishment imposed under this verdict and the punishment imposed by the verdict of the Pervomaisky District Court of Vitebsk dated June 2, 2023, a final sentence of imprisonment for a term of five years was imposed, with the sentence being served in a correctional colony under conditions.

He didn’t buy a ticket on the trolleybus while he was drunk and cursed the president with obscene words. The controller called the police and Sergei was detained.

He was sentenced at the end of 2022 to chemistry with a referral for participating in protest actions, after which in 2024 he was convicted of fraud and sent to IK-2.

On October 28, 2022, he was included in the list of persons prone to extremist activities.

He was accused of twice painting houses, pillars and buildings in his village with white and red paint and declaring his love for Svetlana Tikhanovskaya.

The man has been in pre-trial detention since September 18, 2021. The man began serving his sentence in March 2022. In June 2022, Alexander was placed in Mogilev Prison No. 4. While serving his sentence, the man was placed in a punishment cell and subjected to beatings.

November 28, 2023 Alexander began another trial , in the Brest Regional Court. The man is charged with two counts: 130 approx. 1 part 1 (rehabilitation of Nazism), 339 part 2 (hooliganism).

Sergei, deputy chairman of the board of Belgazprombank, was detained as part of the Babariko case and convicted in July 2021 under the article “accepting a bribe”.

Ivan, a Gomel activist and volunteer for “Country for Life”, a member of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party, left for Russia after several detentions, administrative arrest and the initiation of two criminal cases in 2020.

While in Kaliningrad, Ivan was detained in April 2021 while attempting to cross the border with Poland. At the request of Belarusian law enforcement, he was charged in a criminal case under four articles, including "terrorism". However, after an investigation, the Russian side dropped three of the four charges. A year later, on April 26, 2022, Ivan was released on bail.

On May 27, 2022, he was detained again, and at the end of June, he was extradited to Belarus. According to the case materials, in 2018, he allegedly embezzled more than 68 thousand rubles. The investigation also noted that in 2020, Ivan participated in protests, filmed videos and contacted government agencies.

In December 2022, he was convicted of "fraud." In April 2024, Ivan was convicted again under the article "malicious disobedience to the demands of the colony administration."
