Dmitry was detained after the Telegram chat "Atolino" was designated an "extremist group" by the KGB on August 31 and added to the corresponding list of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on September 6.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs lists the names of the group's members: Pavel Ivanov, Dmitry Tikunov, Evgeniya Mostovaya (Grigorik), Pavel Belonitsky, Alexey Semenov, Yury Antonovich, Alexander Zaitsev, and Vladimir Polekh.

The prosecutor requested a 3-year prison sentence for Dmitry, but the court ultimately sentenced him to 2.5 years.

The Investigative Committee began the process of special proceedings against the ex-director of the Grodno children's hospice Olga Velichko. “Special proceedings are proceedings in a criminal case against an accused who is outside the Republic of Belarus and is avoiding appearing before the body conducting the criminal proceedings.” That is, special proceedings are actually the first step towards trials in absentia of those who are abroad, recently legalized in Belarus. Specifically, while in Gomel, he took photos and videos of military equipment movements. According to pro-government Telegram channels, Valentin was detained on June 9, 2023, for "eight comments on the topic of Russian aggression with insults to Russian citizens," by which he allegedly "attempted to incite ethnic hatred." It is also reported that insults were left against Lukashenko.

Before his arrest, Valentin Shtermer was the director of Avangardbiznesresurs LLC and was the founder of commercial firms in Russia.
The court found Stormer guilty of joining an extremist group for the purpose of committing an extremist crime.

On 01.12.2023, the appeal was heard and the verdict came into force.

He came to the colony after a stroke. "Valentin spoke very slowly, and walked with difficulty - when we walked from work, he always lagged behind, because he could not keep up. Plus, in the winter, he slipped and fell. He had either a broken arm or a dislocation," said a political prisoner from his unit.

Valentin died in early 2025.

The exact date of death is unknown. There is also no certainty whether Shtermer died in the colony or was taken to a hospital - a prison or civilian one. In the realities of Lukashenko's dictatorship, all such information is hidden.

On June 9, 2021, the Zheleznodorozhny District Court of Gomel recognized the Petrikov 97% Telegram channel as extremist. In July 2021, KGB and police officers came to Viktor's home.

A citizen of Russia, has lived in Belarus since the age of 6, an individual entrepreneur.

He is accused of setting fire to the car of the head of the Department of Corrections and puncturing tires in 39 trolleybuses in Gomel.
