Alexander was arrested in connection with a criminal case opened following a protest that took place in Pinsk on the night of August 9-10, 2020, against voter fraud in the presidential election. He was convicted of participating in "mass riots."

In June 2025, he was released, having fully served his sentence imposed by the court.
