On September 30, 2021, he was detained in Minsk in a criminal case initiated for comments on the Internet after the death of KGB officer Dmitry Fedosyuk and IT specialist Andrei Zeltser in a Minsk apartment.
According to the prosecution, on August 16, 2020, in Minsk, Shunkevich "took an active part in an illegal mass event initiated by an extremist organization, during which he purposefully entered the carriageway and blocked the path of vehicles, and showed clear disobedience to the lawful demands of the authorities." From September 2020 to May 2021, he also posted messages on the social network "aimed at inciting social hostility and hostility towards law enforcement officers of the country and supporters of Alexander Lukashenko."
According to human rights activists, the political prisoner served his term in full and was released.
