Andrei was detained on September 27, and later a search was carried out at his home, during which a computer and other equipment were removed.
Tolchin has been repeatedly detained and tried for his journalistic activities since 2017. After the protests of 2020, the journalist decided to leave the profession.
The latest posts on Andrei's Facebook page are reposts of helping animals, photos with friends and acquaintances. Also, Andrei’s sister, who raised him in infancy, recently died.
On May 24, 2024, the appeal was considered and the verdict entered into force.
Trial outcome 21.03.2024: 2 years 6 months of imprisonment under general regime conditions.
