Dzmitry was detained in March 2022. He had appeared in a journalist's video filmed at the protests in the first days after the 2020 election.
In August 2022, Dzmitry was found guilty in a criminal case brought under the article "Organisation and preparation of actions that grossly violate public order, or active participation in them" for taking part in the 2020 post-election protests in Minsk and sentenced to restricted freedom with referral to an open-type correctional facility.
In May 2023, it became known that Dzmitry had been detained right in the correctional facility and sentenced under an administrative article on "distributing extremist materials" to administrative arrest, which he served in the Gomel temporary detention facility. Around the same time, a "repentance" video featuring him appeared on a pro-government Telegram channel.
In July of the same year, a court considered replacing his restricted freedom with a harsher punishment. The outcome of the hearing is unknown.
According to human rights defenders' calculations, he was released in December 2024 after serving his full sentence.
