Edgar was detained in a criminal case opened for comments on the social network VKontakte after the death of KGB officer Dmitry Fedosyuk and IT specialist Andrei Zeltser.
Edgar Shirko previously worked as a librarian, a journalist for the Intex-Press publication, and taught history and social studies at school.
On 13.01.2023, the appeal was heard and the verdict came into force.
According to human rights activists , he will be released in February 2024, having fully served his sentence imposed by the court.
