Elena Valerievna Talkacheva

TUT.BY journalist. She started working at TUT.BY in 2014. At first, she was a journalist for the Construction and Real Estate section, and a couple of years later, she moved to the Money and Power section.

Elena was detained on May 18 as part of a criminal case initiated against TUT.BY for tax evasion on an especially large scale (Part 2 of Article 243 of the Criminal Code).

Elena's preventive measure was changed and, after 14 months of imprisonment, on July 18, 2022, she was released from Pre-trial Detention Center No. 1 on a non-disclosure agreement.

In October 2022, the KGB included Elena in the list of "persons involved in terrorist activities."

On January 9, 2023, the Minsk City Court began hearing the case against the largest Belarusian independent portal TUT.BY. The trial was closed from the very beginning. The case is being heard by Judge Valentina Zenkevich.

Elena Tolkacheva, Olga Loiko and Ekaterina Tkachenko did not appear at the trial because they had gone abroad. According to pro-government Telegram channels, the criminal case against them has been separated into a separate trial. They have been declared wanted.
