In August 2020, during the post-election protests, Yauheni left comments in the Telegram channel "Brest 97%" in which, according to the prosecution, he insulted Lukashenko and called for violence against police officers. He was detained only in October 2021.
In March 2022, Yauheni was found guilty in a criminal case of inciting hatred or discord and insulting Lukashenko and sentenced to imprisonment in a penal colony.
According to human rights defenders' calculations, he was released in July 2023 after serving his full sentence.
