Yauhen graduated from an Olympic reserve school and from the Faculty of Physical Education of Shamyakin Mozyr State Pedagogical University, but did not pursue a sports career: he worked as an orderly with the Babruisk ambulance service and as a taxi driver.
On the night of 30 March 2022, he was detained together with Dzmitry Klimau and Uladzimir Auramtsau in a case concerning the arson of two relay cabinets of a railway signalling installation near Asipovichy. During the arrest, security forces used firearms; according to the Belarusian Railway Workers' Community, detainees who did not resist were deliberately shot in the knees. At the end of July 2022, Yauhen was released on a travel ban.
In February 2023, Yauhen was found guilty in a criminal case brought under the article "Failure to report a crime" as part of the case over the arson of the relay cabinets.
Released from punishment in February 2023: part of the term was cut under an amnesty, and he had served the rest in custody before the trial.
