Karpeshko and two of his friends had their own private chat for three people. After the beginning of the military invasion of Russian troops in Ukraine, in March 2022, Michael left a comment in which he wrote about the experience that wars could begin on the territory of Belarus. For this message, the man was detained and convicted.

Witnesses at the trial were two other chat participants – friends of Karpeshko, who had previously been brought to administrative responsibility under Article 19.11 of the Administrative Code of the Republic of Belarus.

At the trial, the materials of the Karpeshko case indicated that the man had left a message in a «public chat in Telegram».
