Gomel resident, native of Kazakhstan. Detained in Russia in October 2021 for participating in a protest in Gomel in August 2020 and was placed in a pre-trial detention center. On May 3, 2022, the European Court of Human Rights banned the Russian authorities from extraditing Zubkov, his lawyer Roza Magomedova (“Civic Assistance”) notified the state authorities about this. Zubkov was supposed to be released - the term of arrest expired on May 14, 2022. However, at 10 am on May 13, 2022, he was forcibly extradited to Belarus, which was a gross violation of international law.
Released in May 2024 after fully serving the sentence imposed by the court.
