Sergei was arrested on November 17, 2020, and convicted of participating in protests that took place in Minsk on August 9-10, 2020. According to investigators, he "threw at least one stone at an Interior Ministry vehicle," was present at a barricade construction site, blocked traffic, and shouted slogans.

According to human rights activists, he was released in June 2026.
