On April 14, amid yet more family problems, Sergei Voytyuk left home for the border with Ukraine. Witnesses in the case (border guards, a taxi driver, etc.) testified that in their presence Sergei said that he was going to join Kalinovsky's battalion.
He was released in the summer of 2024 after serving his full sentence as determined by the court.
