Vasily was convicted in a criminal case brought under the articles “insulting a government official” and “discrediting the Republic of Belarus” and sentenced to imprisonment.
On February 27, 2024, a hearing was held in the Borisovsky District Court on the case "on the establishment of preventive supervision." This meant that Vasily was to be released in early March after his term expired. However, in June of the same year, he was given a new trial under the article "malicious disobedience to the demands of the colony administration." This article is usually applied to prisoners who refuse to cooperate with the administration, often for fictitious violations.
On March 17, 2025, a hearing was held in the Volkovysk District Court “on the establishment of preventive supervision.”
According to human rights activists, Vasily was released in April 2025, having fully served his sentence as determined by the court.
