Vitaly was detained and convicted for participating in a protest that took place in Zhlobin from August 9 to 10, 2020 and was directed against the results of the presidential elections. At the time of the "crime", he had an outstanding conviction and was intoxicated, which was an aggravating circumstance. However, the mitigating factor was the presence of a minor child in Vitaly's family.
According to human rights activists, he was released in March 2025, having fully served his sentence imposed by the court.
