Initially, the 30-year-old man was charged only with being one of the first, on September 29, 2021, to leave a comment on Instagram under a post about the news about the deceased employee of the state security committee: «the earth will be concrete for the bandit».

Soon a video appeared on the channel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, where the Rogach was forced to confess to the crime and repent on camera. The man was also forced to say that he is a supporter of the LGBT community and promises to improve.

During the investigation, which lasted 11 months, the investigators brought additional charges of insulting a representative of the authorities and organizing and preparing actions that grossly violate public order.

The trial was held behind closed doors.

According to human rights activists, he was released on October 20, 2023, having fully served the sentence imposed by the court.
