Dzianis owned a small shop and was a football fan.
On 28 February 2022, in the first days of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, a signalling relay cabinet burned down on the Zherdz — Astankavichy section. As a result, the traffic lights and switches stopped working on a stretch of the Zhlobin — Kalinkavichy line, which leads to the Ukrainian border. According to the prosecution, Dzianis set the cabinet on fire together with two acquaintances to slow down the transfer of Russian military equipment. He was detained on 4 March of the same year and severely beaten during the arrest.
In December 2022, Dzianis was found guilty in a criminal case brought under several articles, including "Act of terrorism" and "Treason", and sentenced to a long term of imprisonment. The trial was held behind closed doors.
While still in the pre-trial detention center, Dzianis was placed in a punishment cell. In the penal colony in Horki he was sent straight to the punishment isolation cell, was returned there several times, and in the summer of 2023 was moved to a cell-type room, after which there was no contact with him for several months.
In March 2024, Dzianis was found guilty in a criminal case brought under the article "Malicious disobedience to the demands of the administration of a correctional institution" and two more years were added to his sentence. In the spring of 2025, Dzianis was transferred to prison regime.
