Olga Antonovna Loiko
Editor-in-chief of the political and economic block at TUT.BY, journalist. Olga graduated from three universities - BSU, BGEU and Oxford University, and on Tut.by, together with analyst Sergei Chaly, she hosted the program "Economics on the fingers". The measure of restraint was changed on March 17, 2022.
Olga was detained on May 18, 2021, as part of a criminal case initiated against TUT.BY for tax evasion on an especially large scale (Part 2 of Article 243 of the Criminal Code). She is also charged under Part 3 of Article 130 of the Criminal Code (incitement of other social hatred committed by a group of persons) and Part 3 of Article 361 of the Criminal Code (calls for sanctions committed using the media).
On March 17, 2022, Olga Loika, editor-in-chief of the political and economic news block, Alexander Daineko, deputy general director for technical issues, and Andrey Avdeyev, manager of Publisher Box, were released from SIZO-1. Their preventive measure was changed, the charges were not dropped.
In October 2022, the KGB included Olga in the list of "persons involved in terrorist activities."
On January 9, 2023, the Minsk City Court began hearing the case against the largest Belarusian independent portal TUT.BY. The trial was made closed from the very beginning. The case is being heard by Judge Valentina Zenkevich.
On March 17, 2023, TUT.BY editor-in-chief Marina Zolotova and director of TUT BY MEDIA LLC Lyudmila Chekina were each sentenced to 12 years in prison.
In April 2023, the Minsk City Court summoned deputy Valery Voronetsky, political scientist Yevgeny Preygerman, and the head of the Republican Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP) Alexander Shvets in connection with their guarantee for Elena Tolkacheva and Olga Loiko - they were fined 18.5 thousand rubles each.
Elena Tolkacheva, Olga Loiko and Ekaterina Tkachenko did not appear at the trial because they had gone abroad. According to pro-government Telegram channels, the criminal case against them has been separated into a separate trial. They have been declared wanted.
How to write a letter

✏️ Your life events. To a person who is in isolation for a long time, any story about your routine endeavors will be a window into normal life. Your day-to-day worries and mundane matters are much more interesting than the daily grind of life behind bars.
✏️ It is important to share news. Mention the most notable and interesting occurrences depending on your pen-pal's interests.
✍️️ Remember that every letter is censored. This means that your letters are read by strangers whose main goal is to limit inmates' access to information or to use it against the prisoners or even you.
So try to avoid:

👉 statements against the authorities and public servants
👉 foul language
👉 discussion of the circumstances of the criminal case
