He is known for his cruelty and strict control of the regime, personally conducting inspections and punishing for the slightest violations, accompanying this with abuse and bullying. He gave propaganda lectures to political prisoners. In 2023, he introduced new restrictions on the mailing of books and medical supplies. At the beginning of 2024, he resigned and went to Germany under the repatriation program for descendants of German colonists (Spätaussiedler). According to BELPOL, he lives under the name Dimitri Schönwiese in Schwerin. At least 50 political prisoners remain in Colony No. 2. The German authorities have been notified of his involvement in the repressions.

Sergei was detained on August 30, 2020, in Minsk during a Sunday protest. His arrest followed a clash between police and protesters who were trying to prevent the detention of one of the protesters. He was later convicted of "violence against an officer of the internal affairs bodies."
In January 2024, he was transferred to another colony, most likely to IK-2.
According to human rights activists , he will be released in the summer of 2025.

Andrey was detained for riding a bicycle slightly behind a column of cyclists participating in a protest bike ride on August 7, 2020.
