Aleh is a former serviceman who later worked in transportation.
On 28 February 2022, in the first days of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, a signalling relay cabinet burned down on the Zherdz — Astankavichy section. As a result, the traffic lights and switches stopped working on a stretch of the Zhlobin — Kalinkavichy line, which leads to the Ukrainian border. According to the prosecution, Aleh took part in the arson together with two acquaintances to slow down the transfer of Russian military equipment. On 4 March of the same year, he was detained together with his daughter, who was soon released.
In December 2022, Aleh was found guilty in a criminal case brought under several articles, including "Act of terrorism" and "Treason", and sentenced to a long term of imprisonment. The trial was held behind closed doors.
